Duties Description As a Head Recreation Therapist you would plan, develop, implement, direct, and evaluate recreation therapy programs. You would administer all program activities, develop program policy, establish and maintain professional performance standards, and organize professional training for subordinate staff.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable on this Civil Service eligible list for this title;

OR

Transfer Opportunity:
Candidates must have one year of permanent service in a title eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

OR

Provisional Opportunity – In the event that there is not a valid eligible list, candidates who meet the following qualifications may be qualified for a provisional appointment: One year as a Senior Recreational Therapist (including parenthetics). If appointed provisionally you must take the next scheduled exam and receive a reachable score before you can be permanently appointed.

OR

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Head Recreation Therapist at Manhattan Psychiatric Center. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.

The promotion field for the Head Recreation Therapist position consists of one year as a Senior Recreation Therapist (including parenthetics)
